Story of the Designer

Born and raised on a sprawling 17,000-acre cattle station in the heart of Central Queensland, Angeliza Wanstall’s story is deeply rooted in connection — to the land, to her horses, and to the rugged yet beautiful life that shaped her. Riding horses since the age of 4, Angeliza has lived a life intertwined with the rhythm of hoofbeats and the freedom of open skies. Her bond with horses is not just a passion but a way of life, guiding her through countless adventures and shaping the values she carries into her designs. From pony club days to barrel racing, dressage, carriage driving, and even long-distance pack horse trekking, every experience in the saddle has taught her resilience, grace, and the value of thoughtfully designed, functional apparel. Her happiest moments are spent riding her golden palomino along the beach, the salty breeze reminding her of the beauty of simple, authentic living — a spirit she brings to every piece she creates. Angeliza’s journey hasn’t just been about horses and landscapes; it’s also a story of grit and determination. As a qualified electrician, horse-riding instructor, heavy machine operator, veterinary nurse, and Jillaroo, she has worked in industries where women often had to make do with ill-fitting, uncomfortable clothing made for men. She knows firsthand the frustration of gear that doesn’t work for the female form — and the deep need for clothing that supports, empowers, and inspires women to take on their own wild and beautiful journeys. Dust & Grace was born from this purpose: to honor the women who work, ride, dream, and live boldly. Every design reflects Angeliza’s commitment to creating garments that are not only beautiful and functional but deeply connected to the people who wear them and the world we share. From the spirited details of her designs to the choice of sustainable materials, Angeliza brings her heart, her heritage, and her unwavering belief in the power of women into her brand. For Angeliza, Dust & Grace is more than a clothing brand — it’s a tribute to the land that shaped her, the horses that taught her, and the women who inspire her every day.

Sustainability

Angeliza’s approach to design is grounded in functionality, durability, and beauty. Her deep connection to the Australian landscape, unique flora and fauna informs her use of natural fibers. She values ethical production and Australian manufacturing, ensuring every piece is created with care for the environment, the worker and the wearer. Angeliza often references her library of vintage patterns for inspiration on cut and style. Her design process starts with real-life experiences—each stitch and fabric choice is inspired by the tough yet beautiful life on the land, crafting garments that transition from the saddle to beyond with ease.

The Horse

The horse is at the heart of everything Angeliza creates. As her lifelong companion, teacher, and spirit animal, the horse symbolizes freedom, strength, and grace—qualities that are reflected in every dust & grace® design. Whether it’s the cut of the riding jeans or the placement of a concho, the influence of the horse can be seen in the brand’s attention to detail, durability, and fluidity in design.
